After speaking at the United Auto Workers Local 1714 union hall, Vice President Joe Biden stopped at the Canfield Fair for 50 minutes.
During that time, he was greeted by fairgoers as he walked around with a heavy presence of security from Secret Service, Mahoning County Sheriff's deputies and even fair police.
Biden spent about 50 minutes at the fair, stopping at Antone's Italian food booth. There, he got spaghetti and meatballs all covered with cheese in a styrofoam container and a bottle of water. He spent about 15 minutes inside an Antone's tent eating with Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairman David Betras and ex-Gov. Ted Strickland, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate.
As he was getting into his Cadillac with Strickland, Biden acknowledged the crowd, who thanked him for coming.
"I wish they weren't making me leave," he told the crowd.
The motorcade is on its way to two neighborhoods in Youngstown. That includes a walking tour of the Idora Neighborhood to view the work that has been done there to improve that area by the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., a local revitalization organization.
