Some notes from the state dinner in Palacio de la Revolucion, which started around 7.30 pm.
Cuban President, POTUS and the First Lady were welcomed with applause in the room prepared for the dinner. FLOTUS is wearing a black dress with a floral print.
President Castro is a widower. His wife, Vilma Espín, was a central figure of the Cuban revolution and died in 2007. She was the president of Federacion de Mujeres Cubanas and one of the women with more political weight in the country.
In the head table Castro, Potus and the First Lady were joined, between others, by secretary Kerry, Cuban minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez and congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.
They were entertained by a Cuban orchestra and your pooler could see than Pelosi and special advisor to the president Valerie Jarrett were really enjoying the music.
