At 11:26, a bit behind schedule, Michelle Obama emerged from the White House and onto the driveway facing the South Lawn where a large, double-decker bus, wrapped in signage from The Girls' Lounge, was stationed.
The Girls' Lounge is an organization that sets up women's lounges and networking stations for women at primarily male-dominated events and conferences around the world. The bus was also bearing logos: International Women's Day, Let Girls Learn and #62MillionGirls.
Mrs. Obama, wearing a knee-length, printed dress of blue, maroon, green and yellow, with shiny patent leather navy blue heels, greeted an assembled group of young representatives fro Girl Up, the UN Foundation's Adolescent Girls Campaign.
Mrs. Obama was also wearing a bracelet from Alex & Ani, one of the the sponsors of the First Lady's Let Girls Learn initiative.
After commenting on the great weather and greeting each of the girls, the First Lady posed for photos in front of the bus.
Next stop, Union Market - more to come
