Michelle Obama and her daughters entered the courtyard at Santa Maria delle Grazie where they were greeted by Italian Premier Matteo Renzi, his wife and their daughter.
The first lady shook Renzi's hand, then his wife's and then kleaned over to give Renzi's daughter, dressed in blue trousers and a white short-sleeved blouse, a hug.
Malia Obama waved at the premier's daughter and said ''Hi, I'm Malia, nice to meet you.'' Both of Obama's daughters wore short summer dresses.
Obama noted: ''All girls.'' (meaning all the children present were girls.)
The families then walked toward the church, where they were to view Da Vinci's ''The Last Supper,'' walking in front of photographers and reporters.
Renzi's daughter stumbled without falling, getting some help from the Obama daughers who reached out.
The group greeted clergymen from the church before going inside.
Hundreds of people waited outside the church to catch a glimps of the First Lady.
