Subject: Foreign pool/PM Abe arrival at North Portico for state dinner

The Obamas emerged out of the north entrance of the White House around 7:03 pm. President Obama in black jacket and a black bow tie, the First Lady in blue long dress.

About 20 honor guards, one carring the US flag and the other the Japanese flag, stood behind the first couple.

Two black limos came into the north portico around 7:04pm. The Abes were on the second car. The PM came out first, with his wife Akie following him shortly, with her right hand gently on his left arm.  The PM in black jacket and a black bow tie, and Mrs. Abe in deep maroon/blackish dress with kind of a white tail.

The Abes climbed the steps to approach the Obamas, and the prime minister extended his right hand to shake hands with the president. The first ladies lightly hugged each other. They were smiling and said somethong to each other but the pooler could not catch their words.

The four then stood facing the press riser, and the president and the prime minister waved, smiling. Then they turned around and entered inside around 7:05 pm as classic string music was coming out of the opened doors.
