At 9:50 AM ET, President Xi Jinping and President Obama walked swiftly from the White House to the the Oval Office through the Colonnade, roughly one minute. Only their interpreters follows them. Four men walked together.
At 9:51 AM, they entered the Oval. Your foreign pooler was ushered in at 9:52 AM. Both Presidents were sitting next to each other. They both smiled. President Xi wears a bright red tie, and President Obama wears a deep blue one, and they both are in dark suits.
Your pooler heard President Obama said, "thanks for coming." Then President Obama extended his hand, they shook hands. President Xi didn't speak at the time.
And your pooler was ushered out again at 9:53 AM.
This Xi-Obama summit is the fifth between the two heads of state. They met in 2013 in Sunnylands, CA, for the no-neck tie meeting, and during President Obama's State Visit to Beijing in 2014. They also met in 2013 and 2014 respectively on the sidelines of multilateral summits.
