The Vicepresident of the United States Joe Biden arrived at Guatemala International Airport La Aurora after 11:30 a.m. where he was welcomed by the foreign affairs minister, Carlos Morales and the U. S. Ambassador to Guatemala, Todd Robinson.
Minutes after arriving, the delegation moved to a hotel in the capital where he met with Guatemalan elected president, Jimmy Morales.
During the meeting, Morales asked Biden for a special legal treatment for guatemalan migrants through a TPS, (Temporary Protected Status), the vicepresident said he would make the effort to analize the proposal.
Also during the meeting, the vicepresident, reminded Morales that the Guatemalan people urged a fight against corruption, and congratulated the elected president for assuming that task.
Biden told Morales that there is a need to atract investments for the country to be developed, so the citizens don't have to be forced to migrate.
Biden ended the meeting with a smile, showing his goverments support to the new Guatemalan authorities.
