POTUS entered the briefing room just before 2 p.m. with Dep. Press Sec. Eric Schultz. He spoke for roughly 5 min and 30 seconds.

He's wearing a navy suit, light blue shirt and navy blue printed tie. Obama kept a stern, somber and matter-of-fact expression throughout his address. He left without taking questions from reporters.

Obama said today Americans "grieve the brutal murder, horrific massacre of dozens of innocent people."

"Pray for the families who are asking for answers with broken hearts."

Notably, Obama said the shooting is "an act of terror" and "an act of hate."

"We will not give into fear or turn against each other. Instead, we will stand united as Americans… and take action against those who threaten us."
