Subject: in-town pool report #2
After a longer than usual hold in the corridor, the pool was led into the cabinet room at 3.14pm for a less than 30 second glimpse of the Chinese and American delegations at the conclusion of their economic summit.
Nine officials from each country were lined up opposite each other around the cabinet table and your pooler managed to spot Obama, Kerry, Biden, Jack Lew and Susan Rice before we were ushered out again. No words were exchanged and no news committed.
According to the White House, the Chinese were represented by, among others, vice premier Liu Yandong, vice premier Wang Yang and state councilor Yang Jiechi. Other US participants included Jeff Zients, Penny Pritzker, Tony Blinken and US ambassador Max Baucus.
