As the President prepares to head to Asia, he convened a meeting in the Roosevelt Room with a bipartisan group of national security officials to discuss the strategic importance of setting the rules for global trade in the Asia-Pacific region.  He was joined by senior diplomats and defense officials from his administration and previous administrations. The group discussed how high standards trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership can bolster the U.S. economy at home and strengthen our relationships abroad by uniting some of the fastest growing countries in the world under a common set of values and principles that promote inclusive growth and level the playing field for our businesses and workers.  This meeting is part of the administration’s continuing efforts to underscore the wide-ranging benefits of the Trans-Pacific Partnership for both our domestic economic interests as well as our standing in the world.
