POTUS left Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda around 4:30 pm after meeting privately with veterans. He walked across the grass with his suit coat casually slung over his shoulder and sunglasses shielding his eyes from the late afternoon glare.
He chatted with the men accompanying him before waving goodbye, while Marine One idled loudly on the driveway. As he boarded the helicopter POTUS exchanged salutes with the two marines standing guard.
Marine One lifted off at 4:38 pm bound for the White House. The turbulence from the blades sent a construction sign on the ground tumbling.
