Subject: Pool #19 - fundraiser
Your pool was escorted into a room in the apartment that belonged to the late Lewis Katz and now belongs to his son Drew and wife Rachel Katz, hosts of the fundraiser. There were a handful of tables each with a total of about 50 people.
POTUS highlighted achievements of his presidency, saying that “on almost every metric the country is significantly better off than when we came into office.” But he made his pitch for the group to support Democrats in general, saying he couldn’t have done what he did without a Democratic majority in Congress the first two years. He said there are a lot of titles – husband, father – he likes more than Democrat, but he said that Democrats were consistently willing to do the right thing, even when it was not politically expedient.
“I will not be on the ballot again and my wife is super happy about that, but I do care about legacy. and I mean that in the broad sense,” he said. “I’m not talking about any prticular initiative. I think about it in terms of are we leaving behind the kind of politics that can nurture the American dream and gives everybody a shot. And to do that we need a Democratic Senate, a Democratic Congress.”
Your pool was escorted out but POTUS stayed behind to take some questions.
