Jill Biden left Addis Ababa's Sheraton Hotel for Ethiopian National Museum where she arrived at 11:50.
She was welcomed by Museum Director Mamitu Yilma.
Dr.Biden along with Catherine Russell, U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues,was given a tour to archaeological discoveries inside the museum.
There, she met the 3.2 million-year-old Lucy, which is believed to be the most
complete skeleton of an early human ancestor ever discovered.
A curator at the Cleveland National History Museum, Dr. Yohannes Hailesillasie briefed Dr. Biden on the archaeological findings in the museum.
Asked if she heard about Lucy, the second lady replied "yes".
Dr. Biden left the archaeological museum at 12:40 and headed to The Modern Art Museum.
Museum Director at Addis Ababa University, Elsabeth Woldegiorgis greeted The Second Lady and her delegation.
In the modern art museum, Dr.Biden visited an exhibition by The renowned Ethiopia-American artist Julie Mihretu.
Next stop for Dr. Biden was The American Center in the Ethiopian capital.
The American Center is a U.S center that reopened in the Ethiopian capital after four decades of absence.
She arrived there at 1:15 and was greeted by the Director of National Archives and Library Agency, Abraham Chosha.
At the center, Dr. Biden attended a Girls can Code graduation ceremony.
She gave presented certificates to 40 graduates of the project.
Addressing the students, she encouraged them to to make a difference in their families,schools, communities and country.
The Girls can Code project is a U.S. Program helping high school girls around the world to learn computer and IT skills.
Dr. Biden announced that the U.S will expand the Ethiopian program In to four more cities other than the capital.
She also visited projects of students at the newly established center.
Finally, it was time for a group photo with the graduates.
After that, she exited the center
Pool returned to the motorcade and left at 2:00.
