Ms. Zin Mar Myint
Editor, Education Digest, and Preservationist with Yangon Heritage Trust, Rangoon, Burma
During her education under the military regime in 2005, Zin Mar Myint was assigned to study pharmacy due to graduating at the top of her class. Despite the high pay and job security, Zin Mar Myint left her work in pharmacy to pursue her passion for journalism. As the editor of a weekly magazine called Education Digest, Zin Mar Myint reports on issues in the Burma education system in order to educate the public about current educational reforms. She wants to reduce the distance between policymakers and the public and help her country’s transition to a democratic government. A self-described “watchdog” for her community, Zin Mar Myint intends to apply her skills learned through the YSEALI Professional Fellows Program to build a better future for her country.
