One minute later, POTUS ascended the helicopter’s stairs with a sharp right-handed salute to the Marine awaiting with a salute of his own. Obama boarded wearing a dark suit and blue shirt, giving a final wave in the doorway before disappearing inside Marine One.

Press Secretary Josh Earnest, carrying two bags, followed behind about one minute later. He was flanked by Anita Breckenridge, deputy chief of staff, and traveling aide Joe Paulsen; both also were carrying bags.

At 3:10 p.m., all passengers were loaded. The Marine attendant closed and sealed both doors. Marine One was wheels up from the South Lawn at 3:14 p.m. The green helicopter with the presidential seal on the front door headed toward the Washington Monument, bank slowly left and disappeared to the east as it was joined by an escort helicopter that flew over the Rose Garden and Oval Office. Your pooler lost sight of Marine One at 3:15 p.m.
