Subject: Pool Report #8
As the world knows, Obama began his speech at 9:05 pm and concluded at 10:09. Your pooler watched the speech from a TV in the U.S. Capitol and was ushered out to the motorcade promptly after it was finished.
Excluding his introduction by the sergeant at arms and Speaker Ryan, your pooler counted roughly 64 applause lines for Obama during the State of the Union address. (That includes the lone member of Congress clapping over disagreement on health care, strong military spending and Obama not being able to do things on his own.)
One correction on the seating arrangement: The name of one of the guests in the first lady's box was Lisa Jaster, not Jester. The empty seat to FLOTUS' right also should have been noted.
Pool is holding in motorcade.
