On the margins of the U.S.-ASEAN Leaders Summit at Sunnylands, the President met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. The President and Prime Minister Dung discussed the continued strengthening of U.S.-Vietnam relations in 2015, which marked the 20th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations and further progress in the bilateral framework known as the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership. The leaders noted the importance of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, maritime security, and human rights to advancing bilateral relations. The President also conveyed his acceptance of Vietnam's invitation to visit in May when he travels to Japan for the G-7 Summit.
