Subject: Print Pool Report #2

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama greeted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Trudeau, on the South Lawn of the White House to kickoff the new prime minister's first visit to the U.S.

Obama wore a dark suit and light blue tie, as did Trudeau. Michelle Obama wore a dark green dress and black blazer. Sophie Trudeau wore a patterned hot pink dress and hot pink heels.

Waiting to greet the foursome were Secretary of State John Kerry, National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Canada's ministers of trade, environment, defense and fisheries, as well as other officials from both countries unidentifiable from the pool's vantage.

The event provided all the pomp and circumstance that accompanies such affairs-21-gun salute, color guards from every branch of the military, military bands, fawning crowd.

As Obama and Trudeau inspected each military unit, it became clear that, at least with this Canadian-heavy audience, Trudeau has eclipsed Obama as the "rock star" head of state.

There were lots of collective "woos," but mostly for Trudeau. Obama did get a big "woo" and one very audible "Oh my God" when they passed a section of American school children.

For Obama's and Trudeau's remarks, the official White House transcript is already available.
