POTUS was introduced by Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker at the SelectUSA Investment Summit and began his remarks at 2:39 pm.
Per the White House, the summit is the first-ever federal effort to bring job-creating investment to the United States, promoting the United States as the world’s premier business location, and providing easy access to federal-level programs and services related to business investment. The summit aims to connect investors from around the world with representatives from nearly every U.S. state and territory.
In his remarks, POTUS noted the economy's recovery from the Great Recession. Unemployment is down to 5.5 percent, businesses have added 12 million new jobs, and the deficit is shrinking, he said.
"We've got a good story to tell," he said.
"Companies that invest in America have access to the largest market in the world," he said.
To make it easier for global companies to invest in the US, POTUS said his administration will reform the L1B visa, which he said would allow companies to move workers from a global office to an office in the United States in a faster, simpler way.
He also called again for Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform, saying he would continue to "push, prod, poke and cajole" Republicans to get on board.
As always, please check quotes against official transcript.
POTUS finished his remarks at 2:52 pm.
Motorcade arrived back at White House at 3:15 pm.
