Subject: The Island Revenent; pool #9

The Obamas are dining at Hoku's at the Kahala Hotel and Resort. We
have arrived in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in several
time zones.
To get here, the motorcade cut across the island and through the
Ko'olau mountain range and several micro-climates -- sun, fog, rain.
The mountains here look like teeth on a long-dead horse: ridged,
steeply-sloped, top-worn and dark green.
Clouds often obscure the peaks, giving an air of mystery to even a
routine Sunday afternoon drive.
As the motorcade topped the spine of the last mountain, a brilliant
sunset broke through the fog and cast the surrounding ridges into
stark relief. Your pool descended upon Honolulu as a golden-hued
chariot with a souped-up police escort.
Your pooler has become entranced by this island's extraordinary
beauty. Next to DC, Oahu is an SI swimsuit model with a PhD in
astrophysics and a stint behind her at the Cordon Bleu. Or she's Donna
Reed (always had a thing for her).
It's an island filled with people in the happy trance of her siren
song, scratching out basic existences just to hang onto her skirts.
Your pool needs a bureau here.
