Subject: Travel Pool Report #5 -- San Bernardino departure
The motorcade made the five-minute drive back to the San Bernardino airport, arriving at 11:07 p.m.
President Obama quickly boarded Air Force One.
At 11:09 p.m., departure is imminent, and the first family's vacation is about to begin. We're headed to Hawaii.
A little color from inside the classroom where Obama spoke: The president appeared somber and spoke softly after his extended meetings with the victims' families. He stood in front of large, white dry-erase board and spoke without notes for about three minutes.
The White House sends along this information from the president's meetings:
From Principal Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz:
While at Indian Springs High School, the President and the First Lady met with relatives and loved ones of the 14 victims of the shooting in San Bernardino. After meeting with families, the President had an opportunity to thank a group of area first responders and law enforcement professionals, including individuals who responded to the incident.
