From NSC Spokesperson Bernadette Meehan:
President Obama met with President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia on the margins of the Summit of the Americas this afternoon. The Presidents noted the progress made on the Colombia Peace Process and regional cooperation since the last Summit in Cartagena in 2012. President Obama expressed his continued support for Colombia as it works through the challenging issues of victims' rights and other end of conflict issues in the peace talks, emphasizing that the appointment of U.S. Special Envoy to the Colombia Peace Process, Bernie Aronson, symbolizes our shared hope for a stable and lasting peace in Colombia. The leaders also discussed a range of regional issues, and efforts to expand prosperity, security and democracy throughout the Americas. The meeting underscored the importance of the growing partnership between the United States and Colombia, founded on our shared values and long history of bilateral cooperation.
