Subject: Travel Pool Report #9 -- family photo

At 8:16 p.m., the pool was permitted back in the summit meeting room to glimpse the U.S.-ASEAN family photo.

Most of the leaders were already assembled in front of a large screen for the photo, but President Obama had not yet made his way to the front of the room. The president came rushing up and took his place in the center with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib.

The leaders wore suits for this photo -- no traditional garb here. They took a few photos, and then the leaders all crossed their arms in front of their bodies and grabbed the hand of the leaders on each side of them.

Somehow, this maneuver prompted a burst of applause.

After less than a minute, the pool was escorted out.
