Subject: Travel print pool report 7: NSA
Motorcade arrived at a back entrance of NSA at 4.16. Pool is holding in vans while POTUS meets with staff inside.
Background from WH:
"While visiting Fort Meade in commemoration of the 9/11 anniversary, President Obama met with a group of approximately 250 National Security Agency, Central Security Service, and U.S. Cyber Command military and civilian personnel to thank them for their ongoing support in defense of the nation."
No pics allowed, per WH. Vans are sitting next to a five-truck loading dock attached to several-story office building that looks like the centerpiece of a late 80s industrial park in a mid-major metropolitan area.
This is not the picturesque part of the US surveillance state if there is such a thing. There is a large, multi-structure physical plant to the left of the loading dock. To the right, a white storage tank with visible rust all over it and piles of dirt around it where there appears to be construction going on.
There's a bus shelter and a old beat up security guard hut on opposite ends of the lot outside the loading dock where the vans are.
Behind you if you're facing the loading dock, several football fields away, is an older building labeled "installations and logistics." Just beyond that is a large geodesic dome that could hold a communications dish.
There are several National Security Agency Police vehicles around along with the rest of the motorcade.
Pool still holding for POTUS' return at 4.34.
