Subject: VPOTUS pool report #3
Prior to his remarks at the Detroit Department of Transportation, the vice president got a look inside one of the 10 new clean diesel hybrid electric buses that he is here to talk about (background information should already be in your inboxes from the vice president’s office).
The digital signs on the bus have been programmed to flash: Detroit Welcomes Joe Biden.
He was greeted by a DDOT employee and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, who joined him as he walked onto the bus.
“I used to drive a school bus—I’m not sure I could handle this,” Biden said, greeting them.
Once on board, he asked if he could sit in the driver’s seat. He did, and seemed to be having a good time. He honked the horn once.
He was shown the ADA compliance area toward the front, and then continued walking the length of the bus.
Once out, he said, “you see how long that thing is? We’re not going to leave anyone at the stops anymore.”
