Subject: VPotus Pool Report #7 Latvia
VPotus and the presidents of Latvia, Lithuania & Estonia laid wreaths at the base of the Freedom Monument. They made no comments but a National Guard band played anthems, including the US anthem, as people looked on from behind a barrier - dozens I would say, maybe 100.
Today is the anniversary of the Baltic Way, when in 1989 some 2 million people in the three former Soviet Republics joined hands across borders to demonstrate their desire for independence. Two years later on this day, in 1991, Latvia did declare independence. August 23rd is also National Guard Day. The volunteer force is a source of patriotic pride
