VPOTUS travel pool report #8, 9/29/15 – Arrival for bilat with Afghan leader

At 5:23 p.m., Vice President Biden walked out of the Kitano Hotel, his meeting with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan apparently over. He walked to his limo and the motorcade rolled, through streets at times crowded with cars and pedestrians that seemed to care little about the sirens and flashing lights attempting to keep them at bay. Still, your pool arrived without incident five minutes later at the Lotte New York Palace hotel, where we were led through a marble-floored, chandelier-lit, orchid arrangement-adorned lobby and up to a meeting room. We are holding here while awaiting a look at the meeting between Biden and Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the chief executive of Afghanistan.

Per the VP’s office, the American participants in the meeting are:

Dr. Colin Kahl, National Security Advisor to the Vice President and Deputy Assistant to the President

Dr. Ely Ratner, Deputy National Security Advisor to the Vice President

Mustafa Popal, Special Advisor to the Vice President for Iraq and Southwest Asia

Courtney Cooper, Director for Afghanistan (NSC)

Laurel Miller, Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan

More to come after spray.
