Subject: Pool report #3 -- class photo
At 11:30 am, the leaders and their delegations spilled out of the summit building onto the lawn to take a group photo. -- save for Obama. They chatted for a while in the midday heat. When Abe appeared on the lawn they all lined up in a row, leaving one blank space for POTUS. Abe said, "We will wait for Obama," and they did so while milling about for about five minutes. Obama descended the hill unsmiling, took his place, gave a tight smile for the cameras and turned on his heel to leave, lining up with Abe so that the two could talk as they walked away briskly.
An addendum to the morning session pool report -- Obama was the last to arrive and entered the room quickly and nodded and said quiet hellos as he took his seat. He only made one comment to the press, when the German photographer specifically asked him to turn around for the German press. His jaw clenched as he chewed his Nicorette.
A correction to the first pool report: the Lao PM goes by PM Thongloun, not PM Sisoulith?. Mark Stroh notes the error on the G7 website.
