Subject: Pool Report #4
Pool escorted at 11:50 into FEMA conference room, where POTUS, wearing a dark suit and dark tie, sat at the center of a large wooden table surrounded by meeting participants and FEMA Director Craig Fugate to his right.
POTUS explained the purpose of the meeting was to obtain an update on preparedness because hurricane season starts tomorrow.
Making a reference to climate change, POTUS said as it continues hurricanes are only going to become "more devastating."
POTUS said states have lead in addressing weather disasters, but federal government must be in a position to assist.
But POTUS said individuals also have a role in preparedness, advising to people have kits and evacuation plans in place.
"If your local authorities say you need to evacuate, you need to evacuate and get it done," POTUS said.
POTUS warned some public complacency is kicking in and encouraged individuals to download FEMA application for phones.
POTUS said he was quoting Fugate in saying FEMA was once "wrapped around the axel," but now an effective federal agency.
"We can't control the weather, but we can control our responses to it," POTUS concluded.
Pool escorted out at 11:56 and into motorcade, which started rolling at 12:08 and entered White House grounds at 12:12.
