The pool entered the Oval Office at 2:54 p.m for a briefing on the Cancer Moonshot Report.

The report highlights the progress made by the Cancer Moonshot Task Force on transforming cancer research.

POTUS was joined by Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden.

POTUS spoke to the press about how he selected Vice President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden to head the program, in part, because of their own profound loss. The president remarked that his own mother passed away from cancer when she was younger than POTUS is today.

POTUS said that he hoped the next administration could pick up where his administration is leaving off. POTUS spoke for five minutes.

At that point, VP Biden, who was seated next to POTUS, said a few words.

VP Biden spoke briefly about his son Beau Biden's own fight against cancer. He remarked treatments have quickly evolved. VP Biden said that drug companies are beginning to combine their resources, which could help advance cancer research even more rapidly: VP Biden said he dreamt of the day his grandchildren and POTUS's would be able to get a vaccine to prevent cancer. VP Biden spoke for 8 minutes.
