Obama welcomes Pittsburg Penguins
The president welcomed the NHL champion Pittsburgh Penguins to the White House on Thursday. Event was open press, but some fun color:
POTUS noted he has welcomed eight NHL champion teams during his presidency and all were from the United States, a point he has raised to America's neighbor to the north.
Obama also said he had welcomed the Penguins as champions in his first year in the White House, and a lot has changed since then. "Back in 2009, my hair matched the color of the puck more than the ice."
An infant started crying shortly thereafter and Obama drew big laughs when he spoke directly to the baby: "Don't worry; I don't have any more bad jokes."
POTUS was presented with his own Penguins jersey emblazoned with "Obama" and a mini Stanley Cup.
Obama left the East Room at 12:27pm.
