Subject: Potus foreign pool report 2
Potus met with president of Nigeria Muhamma du Buhari in a room inside the UNGA. Pool entered the room at 12.07 and stayed there for less than 10 minutes.
Potus spoke first about the "very strong" bilateral relationship and praised "very bold reforms" that have led to "real progress" in Nigeria and against Boko Haram, thanks to the coordination with Nigerian military.
Potus emphasize the importance of "communities being able to recover from devastation" caused by these extremists. He mentioned "real danger" persists in some areas with regard to deliver humanitarian aid.
Both leaders discuss broader issues, as "very bold economic reforms" in Nigeria, the fight against corruption and climate change cooperation, Potus said.
As he prepares to leave the White House, Potus noted a "sense of urgency to put in place a framework for cooperation" with Nigeria.
Nigerian president spoke briefly, without a microphone, and it was really hard for your pooler to hear and understand what he was saying.
He spoke in general about "major problems" in security and economy that he found after taking the Presidency and noted, with regard to Boko Haram, that his government has been successful in the fight against them in the north of the country.
"I don't think Nigeria can't thank enough US" for the help, he said.
