Subject: travel pool #5/Obama-Clinton campaign event begins
Open press campaign event in Charlotte. Some quick highlights.
Obama and Hillary Clinton took the stage at 3:28pm to the strains of "This is my fight song," rather than "Hail to the Chief." The presidential seal adorned the lectern. The crowd, several thousand strong, cheered ecstatically as the duo waved. Obama, pumping a right fist in the air, joined a chant of "Hillary! Hillary!"
Clinton called Obama someone who's never forgotten where he comes from, "and Donald, if you're out there tweeting, it's Hawaii."
He knows a thing or two about winning elections, take it from me," Clinton said. "And he also knows that despite all the progress we've made under his leadership - and yes we have - we still have a lot of work to do."
She lauded Obama for saving the country from a second Great Depression. "I don't think he gets the credit he deserves for saving our economy. We've added 14 million private sector jobs.... 20 million people now have health care. Clean energy production has soared.... I could go on and on... That is what leadership looks like."
The president sat behind her on a stool, right hand over his chin, listening as she took shots at Trump, like an open demand to see his tax returns. No mention of the FBI announcement.
