Subject: White House Travel pool report #1 Leaving London

Obama emerged from Winfield House around 9:50 am and jogged over to a line of fire fighters who were standing by on the residence's lawn, presumably in case there were problems with his helicopter, and shook their hands.

He boarded Marine One a few minutes later. The helicopter carried him to London Stansted Airport, where Air Force One was waiting to take him to Germany, the next leg in his European tour.

There was a small viewing pit with about 50 or 60 US airmen. Obama spent a few minutes with them before getting on his plane. "I'm proud of you," he said to them. "Thank you....Keep it up."

He hugged the US ambassador at the foot of the plane's stairs.

Air Force One began rolling at about 10:40 am.
