News on the debt ceiling.

During a meeting with cabinet officials, President Trump said he was open to eliminating the debt ceiling entirely.

Trump spoke in response to a shouted question.

"It could be discussed," Trump said. "There are a lot of good reasons to do that," he said.

Trump said there were a lot of things he could work on with Republican and Democratic leaders.

"The people of the U.S. want to see a coming together," he said.

Pool was ushered into the Cabinet Room at around 12:57.

Cabinet and White House officials were seated around a long table for a luncheon with the leader of Kuwait. Tillerson was to Trump's left. Pence was seated to Trump's right.

Trump initially spoke about Hurricane Irma and the visit of Kuwaiti Amir al-Jabar, who was seated across from Trump.

The debt ceiling comments came in response to shouted questions.

More coming.
