Subject: pool report #3 - Cabinet meeting/North Korea/Sessions
Pool report No. 3 | July 31, 2017
(Disclaimer: Please check all quotes against transcript.)
No major news from pool's short time in the Cabinet meeting. Asked about what he can do about North Korea, POTUS replied: “We’ll handle North Korea. We’ll be able to handle North Korea. It will be handled. We handle everything.”
Attorney General Jeff Sessions sat across the table from POTUS, one seat to the president’s right. Amid tensions between the two and President Trump’s criticism of Sessions, the AG was directly in Trump’s line of sight as he address the pool. He did not mention Sessions during the brief pool spray.
Pool entered the Cabinet Room at 10:07 a.m., and exited three minutes later.
POTUS again sang Kelly’s praises, predicting he will go down in history as one of the “great” chiefs of staff “ever.” President Trump, as he did in the Oval Office spray, also ticked off a series of statistics and cited unnamed polls as he said the economy is doing “very well.”
