Subject: Pool report 3 - Mexico bilat
My apologies that this pool report got lost in the shuffle after the Mexico bilat and I just realized it had not been sent.
US President Donald Trump and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto sat next to each other in arm chairs for their bilateral meeting, Trump’s first such meeting on the sidelines of the G20.
Pena Nieto spoke through an interpreter, to thank Trump for the meeting at which the two would discuss trade, migration, security and organized crime.
He said he hoped the talks would “help continue a strong dialogue to allow for the negotiation of NAFTA.”
He said they would work for the “security of both nations, especially at our borders, And of course we will be working on migration issues, which have occupied both of our administrations.”
Responding to a shouted question after the remarks, Trump replied that he “absolutely” wants Mexico to pay for his planned border wall along the US-Mexican border.
