POTUS and VPOTUS entered the East Room at 2:25 pm to swear in senior staff.
POTUS spoke for a few minutes.
First the news, POTUS said he would be meeting soon with the Canadian prime minister and Mexican president in separate meetings. He said he and the Mexican president would start to renegotiate NAFTA and talk about immigration, including the border.
POTUS also held up an envelope that he said was a letter left for him in the Oval Office by President Obama. He said it was "really nice" for him to leave the letter and that he would "cherish" it.
Asked about the call with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, he said it was "very nice." But he did not answer a question about moving the embassy.
