Well, it looked like a quiet POTUS birthday today (71) till gunfire broke out at a ballfield in Alexandria VA where Team GOP was reportedly practicing for tonight’s congressional ballgame. Arriving at the WH at 8:45 a.m, security looked like it was on a definite uptick. Lafayette Park was closed off more than usual, as was PA Av., with yellow tape/fencing etc.

POTUS is helping out with the news this morning, tweeting “Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, a true friend and patriot, was badly injured but will fully recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with him.”

White House also put out this statement at 8:33 am ET:

“The Vice President and I are aware of the shooting incident in Virginia and are monitoring developments closely. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of Congress, their staffs, Capitol Police, first responders, and all others affected.”

Poolster is told Spicer is  not available at the moment, waiting to see if there is more POTUS activity resulting from shooting. Otherwise, nothing on the public schedule till he does an event at the Labor Dept. this afternoon at around 3:30.
