The president's motorcade arrived at the convention center in Phoenix at 6:32 p.m. local time.
On the 20-minute drive from the POTUS RON, we saw a smattering of supporters holding Trump/Pence signs and waving in the neighborhood near the hotel. As we got closer to the convention center, we saw more and more protesters. Hard to judge how many, but there were several hundred that we passed.
Several people made obscene gestures at the motorcade. Some signs included "Fire Trump" and "Sad!" Also, "Love One Another."
Inside the arena, there are thousands of Trump supporters, don't have a crowd count yet. Most are standing, in a boisterous mood. Some are in patriotic garb, some wearing Trump hats and t-shirts. Signs proclaim "Women for Trump" and "Veterans for Trump."
