Subject: Travel Pool Report #15: color
The American delegation appeared to be in high spirits, following a long and lavish lunch and ahead of the bilat (details of which were in Jerome’s previous pool report). At 3:52 p.m., Jared Kushner greeted H.R. McMaster with a high-five when he entered the room where the bilat would be held. Bannon stood around chatting with Tillerson. Priebus appeared to be reviewing a schedule on someone else’s tablet.
Killing some time before POTUS entrance, Cohn paced around the room and came over to say hello to the press pool. What are you signing today? we asked him. He responded that the ceremony will be a signing “to invest a lot of money in the U.S. and have a lot of U.S. companies invest and build things over here.... They’re going to hire US companies….a bunch of infrastructure related things… A lot of money. Big dollars. Big dollars.”
How’s it all going so far, we asked Cohn, who arrived this morning aboard AF1 with POTUS. “Good,” he said. “Really well.”
Pool is now holding in another reception hallway that looks almost identical to the one where we witnessed the coffee ceremony and medal presentation -- only the color scheme here (chairs, carpet and walls) is a pea green, rather than a dark blue.
