Subject: Travel pool report #2/NJ fund-raiser
The pool departed its hotel in Branchburg, NJ, about 4:55 pm en route Newark International Airport. As far as we know, the president remains at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster.
At 4 pm he was scheduled to headline a fundraiser for Rep. Tom MacArthur at the club. The event remained closed press, despite several requests from poolers who noted that previous presidents routinely allowed the pool into such events, at least to witness presidential remarks.
According to the invitation, tickets started at $5,400 per couple for a reception, with other price points of $25,000 for a “co-host” and $100,000 for a “host,” each of which came with VIP photo opportunity and reception. The VIP photo opportunity was limited to 20 guests, the invite said.
White House aides provided no information about the event. MacArthur aides wouldn’t say how many people attended or how much it would raise. According to the invitation, the funds would be shared among “MacArthur Victory, a joint fundraising committee authorized by and composed of MacArthur for Congress, Inc., NRCC, TMAC PAC, and New Jersey Republican State Committee (Federal Account).”
It’s the first personal fund-raiser Trump has held for a House incumbent.
