On Background from a White House Spokesperson

Today, President Donald J. Trump will receive an update from his infrastructure team and sign an Executive Order bringing accountability and discipline back to the permitting process for infrastructure projects. The President’s Infrastructure Initiative will change the paradigm of the Federal government’s involvement in infrastructure by encouraging self-help, leveraging the incredible potential for investment from the private sector, making smarter federal investments, and streamlining project delivery. The Executive Order the President will sign today will help to jumpstart that process by: establishing the protocol of “one Federal decision” for major infrastructure projects, setting a two-year goal for completion of the permitting process, and creating accountability for federal agencies involved in the permitting process.

The following individuals are expected to attend:

The President

Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin

Elaine Chao, Secretary of Transportation

Jeff Rosen, Deputy Secretary of Transportation

General John Kelly, White House Chief of Staff

Mick Mulvaney, Director of the Office of Management and Budget

Gary Cohn, Director of the National Economic Council

Kirstjen Nielsen, Deputy White House Chief of Staff

Stephen Miller, Senior Advisor

Reed Cordish, Office of American Innovation

Jeremy Katz, Deputy Director of the National Economic Council

David “DJ” Gribbin, National Economic Council
