Inside the Metropolitan Cathedral, Vice President Pence was greeted by Father Alejandro Russo (Rector of Cathedral) and Jorge Marcelo Faurie (Argentine Foreign Minister & Worship). Pence was led through the grand cathedral to the steps of the alter, where he took part in a moment of silence.
Pence was then led to General San Martin's tomb for a wreath laying ceremony. Two ornately uniformed guards carried a wreath to the tomb and Pence stood before the tomb, looking at the wreath in solitude. A soldier played what sounded like a trumpet as the VP stood.
VP Pence then proceeded to review the Jewish Holocaust and Israeli Embassy Bombing Memorial inside the cathedral. He stood for several minutes reading prayers and other writings on the wall.
The motorcade is rolling at 11:16 am local to our next stop, Quinta de Olivos, the presidential residence, for Pence's meeting with President Macri.
